Acer Aspire One D255
Ada kabar gembira bagi pasar netbook, prosesor dual core Intel Atom pertama yakni Atom N550 muncul di kisaran kuartal ketiga 2010. Prosesor tersebut memiliki kecepatan 1.5 GHZ dengan L2 cache sebesar 1 MB (masing-masing 512KB L2 cache per core). Jadi, Internetan lebih lancar dan responsif dengan Processor Dual Core yang hemat daya ini.
Prosesor ini memang bukan prosesor dual core Atom pertama yang di pasang pada netbook. Sebagai informasi, Asus EeePC 1201N memiliki prosesor Atom 330 dual core. Akan tetapi, prosesor tersebut bukanlah prosesor yang di desain khusus untuk netbook, melainkan nettop.
Dari sisi konsumsi energy, tidak ada perbedaan signifikan. Sejumlah sumber menyebutkan, Atom N550 mengkonsumsi daya rata-rata hingga 8,5 watt. Meski masih sedikit lebih boros dibanding Atom 330 yang mengkonsumsi 8 watt, tetapi angka tersebut udah lebih baik jika mengingat prosesor masa kini memiliki fungsi chip northbridge yang terpasang pada prosesor.
